Our GAIA Journey has begun

Mar 28, 2020

GAIA launched on Friday, 27th of March with over 5000 people from 33 countries participating in five live Zoom interactive sessions in three languages.

As a global community, we are in the midst of an unprecedented and monumental crisis. At the same time we see the vibrancy of the potential that exists in us, as individuals and as a collective. GAIA (an acronym for Global Activation of Intention and Action) is an impromptu global infrastructure conceived of in response to our current moment of disruption.

“The GAIA journey really is about deepening our connection to ourselves, to each other, and to the place we are living in — our mother Earth.” Otto Scharmer.

SUMMARY OF SESSION

GAIA launched on Friday, 27th of March with over 5000 people from 33 countries participating in five live Zoom interactive sessions in three languages. GAIA is an ongoing journey, open to change-makers, leaders, and citizens from all over the world, free of charge and now expanding its offer to include 6 languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Dutch and French). GAIA will culminate in a virtual Global Forum in July.

As GAIA participant Laurence put it: "Everything I have gone through in my life has prepared me for THIS moment."

TOOLS

The backbone that we are offering for the GAIA journey of societal transformation and healing include the following tools:
  • Social Solidarity Circles: this is an upgraded version of the ‘Coaching Circle’ methodology. Social Solidarity Circles make possible a collective intelligence, a space to sense what is emerging together. Oftentimes, these circles are a mirror for the whole. We are encouraging people to activate a Social Solidarity Circle by self-organizing with their new community members across the globe, or with others they already know and choose to practise with at this time. Discover more and join or create a circle here.

  • Global-Local Connection: participants can begin to activate their region, community or topic area (such as finance; farm & food; education & learning; etc) by joining an existing hub or starting a new one.

  • Listening and Dialogue: these first few weeks of our journey are about activating deep listening and awareness, opening our organs of perception. On this exhale week, we encourage everyone to pick a practice which allows them to further explore their own context–something they already do, or something new:
    • listening
    • dialogue interviews
    • meditation, walk in nature, visual practice etc.
The invitation is to take a moment each day to consider the three questions that were raised during the launch session:
      • What am I being called to let go of?
      • What am I noticing about my inner state and response?
      • What is beginning to emerge now?
and share reflections on social media using the hashtag #gaiajourney, and interact with others on the discussion board.
We will continue to evolve and co-create this journey as the global situation unfolds.
